Hello,I have been using an old version of Logic Gold 5 on a G4 tower since 2003. I recently moved and as it goes with any move, things got lost, including my old blue eMagic XS key! I'm wondering what I can do to get my program to open now.I am not interested in updating or upgrading to any new version of Logic since I am using other programs for my music nowadays. I just want to be able to open my old mixes and use the old program for mastering some new tracks (it is STILL great for that!).Is this version of the software still supported by Apple now that eMagic is gone?
What can I do to retrieve my old files/mixes? Is it possible to open the program without the key? If not, should I purchase cheap new Logic program like Express to get everything to work or is my program too old?Thank you for your help. Captainbrian77 wrote:Thanks for the advice. That is correct, I still have the installation disc and the XS serial number stickers. Is this all I need if I go to an Apple store and explain my situation?

If this does not work can I get a copy of Logic Express and have it open up my old files?I would stay away from an actual physical Apple store. Most don't even know what Logic Pro is.If I were you I would call Apple directly, and then get routed to someone who knows about Logic and its XSKey, replacement policies, etc.Cheers. I called 1 800 My Apple and they said that they unsurprisingly do not support that version of the software.
They said that I could upgrade to the new full version (not the cheaper one) and that it would read my old files. Is this information accurate? Would that work? Also, since I'd be upgrading the price would be lower but would I need to have the key?Lastly, is there anyone out there I could either buy or borrow an old, blue Emagic XS key from? I'd be willing to pay. Thanks for your help. Apple Footer. This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only.
